OFFICIAL: Nebraska New signing officially the highest-paid foreign athlete in American collegiate volleyball.
Nebraska volleyball appears to be in a position to add 6-foot-5 Italian opposite hitter Virginia Adriano to its 2025 roster. Multiple sources have confirmed the addition to HuskerOnline. The Huskers have not signed Adriano, nor have they confirmed her addition.
She turns 21 on July 22 but would be considered a freshman at Nebraska.
Adriano has competed with the Italian youth national teams and A1 and A2 club teams in Italy. She recently concluded a club season with Bergamo in Italy’s top pro league. She helped Italy win the U23 European Championship in 2024 and the U19 championship in 2022. Italy was runner-up in the U21 World Championship in 2023.During the A1 season, she hit .385 and averaged 2.86 points per match, according to volleyballworld.com. In the A2 league in 2023-24, the 6-foot-5 opposite hit .384 and recorded 395 kills. She had 27 aces and 0.96 aces per set.Volleyball.It reported on May 9 that Adriano will join the Huskers.
