Joel Embiid is entering an interesting part of his career ahead of the 2025 NBA offseason. The former MVP has taken a steep fall off since he won the award, seeing decline in his efficiency.
With the long injury history and playing only 19 games last season led to the 76ers falling off and finishing in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a 24-58 record. Even in the games that Embiid did play in this past season, it was not up to the same level of play as it should have been. The 76ers must consider trading Embiid, and the Miami Heat would be a perfect trade partner for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelphia 76ers Trade Joel Embiid to the Miami Heat
The Miami Heat had their own fair share of struggles throughout the 2024-25 NBA season. For them, they were still able to make the NBA Playoffs, but only to be swept 4-0 in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Heat need to make moves to improve their team this offseason to prove they are still top contenders in the NBA.
Joel Embiid could be the missing piece for a Miami offense that struggles to score in the half-court. Bam Adebayo is able to play the forward role, allowing Embiid to slot in at the center spot, and having Adebayo paired with Embiid would greatly help in advancing the defense of the unit as well. With Tyler Herro coming off his best season as well where he averaged 23.9 points per game, it would help take pressure off Embiid ro lead the team in scoring, and just allow him to focus on his style of play to provide an impact on the offensive end. After a season in which Embiid averaged just 23.8 points per game, having less pressure on him could see him return to averaging a higher scoring average.
For Philadelphia, this move allows them to hand the team over long-term to Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain. They would no longer have to deal with Embiid’s headaches and lack of availability. Their young players have huge upsides and they can give them more opportunities right away. I could see
For a trad4 to be completed, Philadelphia could look to get Jaime Jaquez Jr, Andrew Wiggins, and draft picks in return for Embiid. Both teams benefit as Miami gets a new star to pair with Adebayo and Herro, while the 76ers gets a fresh start with young talent.
