All-American catcher Jasmyn Burns commits to Texas Tech.
NiJaree Canady has a new battery mate. A day after Texas Tech lost the Women’s College World Series championship series, the Red Raiders picked up a major off-season win with a commitment from All-American catcher Jasmyn Burns.
After earning a Big Ten All-Freshman Team nod in 2024, Burns had a breakout year under the new Ohio State head coach Kirin Kumar. Burns hit 25 home runs, setting the single-season Ohio State and Big Ten record, along with a .455 batting average, 1.546 OPS and 72 RBIs.This will be a major boost to the Texas Tech lineup that is trying to build around Canady in her final year.
