Baltimore Ravens’ cornerback, Marlon Humphrey, was hit with a substantial $45,200 fine for a controversial hit on Buffalo Bills’ quarterback, Josh Allen, during the AFC Divisional Round. The hit, which occurred in the second quarter, did not result in a flag from the on-field officials. However, the NFL later deemed the action as “Unnecessary Roughness (use of the helmet)” and issued the fine accordingly.
Humphrey expressed his frustration on X, highlighting the significant financial impact of the fine on his game earnings. He remarked, “$480 to play in an NFL football game is wild. Probably going to be $232 after taxes.”
This fine underscores the NFL’s strict enforcement of player safety regulations and the ongoing debate surrounding controversial hits in the league.
