Newcastle United are interested in signing Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke during the January 2024 transfer window. According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are looking into the English striker.
Solanke, 26, is in the prime of his career and heads a promising Bournemouth assault that has improved under Andoni Iraola. With 12 goals and one assist in 19 league games this season, the Cherries are fighting for an 11-15 finish rather than relegation.

Solanke was a top talent in the Chelsea system and even showed potential at Liverpool. However, the choice to transfer to Bournemouth was inspired since it would allow him to get consistent playing time and grow into a top-level player.
This season, only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more goals than Solanke in the Premier League. It won’t surprise Newcastle boss Eddie Hopwe, who signed Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. He now wants to recreate the trick on Tyneside.
Adding him to an offense led by Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson will undoubtedly increase Newcastle’s goal-scoring potential. It will provide a significant boost to the Mgapies’ chances of finishing in the top four this season.
However, Bournemouth are not in the mood to lose their best player in January. The Cherries have already lost Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo to the African Cup of Nations, and if Solanke leaves, they would have little to no bite upfront. Doing so will destroy much of Iraola’s fine work at Vitality Stadium this season.
Bournemouth will have a good negotiating position because his contract with the club expires in 2027. Solanke’s transfer to Newcastle will provide him with another opportunity to elevate his career. The Magpies are far from championship contenders, but they are clearly on the upswing.
Solanke was never a regular starter for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, but he has the potential to be a star at Newcastle. After all, we’ve already seen that Howe is a manager who believes in his ability.
