MSU’s Jase Richardson Speaks From NBA Combine

Jase Richardson, the standout freshman guard from Michigan State, made a significant impression at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. Following a remarkable season with the Spartans, Richardson declared for the NBA Draft, eager to embark on the next chapter of his basketball career.

A Stellar Freshman Season

Richardson’s debut season at Michigan State was nothing short of exceptional. After being inserted into the starting lineup in February, he averaged 14.4 points and 4.8 rebounds over the final six games, showcasing his scoring ability and versatility. His performance was instrumental in Michigan State’s push for the Big Ten title.

NBA Draft Combine Highlights

At the NBA Draft Combine, Richardson’s skills were on full display. Known for his lethal midrange game, he impressed scouts with his ability to stop on a dime and execute high-arcing shots over defenders. His finishing at the rim, despite being a below-the-rim athlete, demonstrated his immaculate touch and footwork.

Richardson’s poise and basketball IQ were evident during interviews and drills. He credited his development to countless hours of film study and guidance from Michigan State’s head coach, Tom Izzo. “Coach Izzo taught me how to think the game through countless hours of film and conversations on and off the court,” Richardson shared.

Legacy and Future Prospects

As the son of former NBA star Jason Richardson, Jase carries a legacy of excellence. His father, a former second-team All-American at Michigan State and a national champion, has been a source of guidance throughout his journey. “My dad had the blueprint laid out for me for how I was going to get to my goals,” Jase remarked.

Looking ahead, Richardson is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. His combination of scoring ability, basketball IQ, and work ethic make him a promising prospect for NBA teams seeking a dynamic guard.

Jase Richardson’s journey from Michigan State to the NBA is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and the strong foundation laid by his family and mentors.
