Mississippi State Bolsters Rotation with South Carolina Transfer Tyler Pitzer
Mississippi State just landed a major addition to its pitching staff.
South Carolina right-hander Tyler Pitzer has announced his commitment to Mississippi State out of the transfer portal, giving the Bulldogs a proven SEC arm with big upside. The sophomore pitcher made 19 appearances for the Gamecocks this past season, flashing electric stuff and a competitive edge that Bulldog fans will appreciate.
Pitzer’s decision comes as Mississippi State continues to aggressively reload its roster under head coach Chris Lemonis. With SEC pitching always in high demand, securing a transfer with Pitzer’s experience is a big win—especially one who already knows what it’s like to face SEC-level lineups.
At South Carolina, Pitzer showed flashes of dominance, mixing a mid-90s fastball with sharp secondary pitches. While his role was mostly out of the bullpen, many believe he has the potential to develop into a starter or high-leverage reliever in Starkville.
This move also adds more depth and competition to a Mississippi State staff that’s aiming to return to Omaha form.
How do you see Pitzer fitting into the rotation or bullpen mix next season? Can he be a breakout arm in maroon and white? Drop your thoughts
