Mississippi State Bolsters Coaching Staff with Addition of Veteran Pac-12 Defensive Line Coach
Mississippi State Football has made a significant addition to its coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season, hiring Coach Jamar Cain
Cain, who brings over a decade of experience coaching defensive lines at the Power Five level, is widely known for his technical teaching, player development, and relentless recruiting. During his time in the Pac-12, he helped produce multiple All-Conference linemen and improved team sack totals each season.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Cain to Starkville,” said Coach Lebby in a statement. “His track record speaks for itself. He’s developed some of the best pass rushers in college football and brings a level of energy and expertise that aligns perfectly with the culture we’re building here.”
Cain will take over a Mississippi State defensive front that has shown promise but lacked consistency in recent seasons. His arrival is expected to elevate the Bulldogs’ pass rush and reinforce run defense—a crucial need in a conference that features elite offensive lines and mobile quarterbacks.
Players have already responded positively to Cain’s intense but instructive coaching style during spring workouts. Veteran lineman De’Anthony Jackson said, “Coach Cain brings a mindset that’s all about domination. He pushes us, and we’re ready to respond.”
With Cain on board, Mississippi State hopes to see a sharper, more physical front line that can disrupt opposing offenses and help the Bulldogs return to defensive prominence in the SEC. His impact could be one of the defining factors of MSU’s 2025 campaign.
