Jalen Milroe’s Senior Bowl Surge: Aiming to Elevate Draft Stock with Impressive Throwing Power
Alabama football quarterback Jalen Milroe entered the Senior Bowl with a potential late first-round draft label. He has already demonstrated a notable advantage over Heisman Trophy finalist Dillon Gabriel.
During Wednesday’s practice in Mobile, Alabama, Milroe delivered an astonishing throw clocked at 75.4 miles per hour. This impressive velocity surpassed the throwing speed of the 2024 Ducks’ star, marking Milroe as a formidable talent.
Milroe is leveraging the prestigious bowl game to enhance his draft prospects. Coming off a tumultuous 2024 season without the legendary Nick Saban as his head coach, Milroe saw his touchdown passes decline under the new leadership of Kalen DeBoer. However, he achieved career-highs in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, completions, and passing yards, showcasing his versatility and resilience.
Despite his commendable performance, many draft projections as of January 27th do not place Milroe in the first round. Bucky Brooks of the NFL Network released his latest mock draft on Wednesday, which did not feature Milroe among the top 32 picks. Nonetheless, Milroe’s standout performances during Senior Bowl practices and the upcoming game on Saturday hold the potential to significantly boost his draft stock.
