Fameitau Siale can still remember the feeling of his first football game. His family cheered him on from the stands, and when Siale ran for the end zone, he saw his father running down the sideline with him.
“I knew I wanted to keep that feeling forever and play at the highest level of football,” Siale said in a video posted to his X account.
Life took a tragic turn. Siale’s father, Sioeli, died in 2019. But six years later, Siale’s football journey led to a commitment to Michigan State on Sunday โ Father’s Day โ and Siale dedicated his decision to his late father.
“For my dad, for my mom and for the family that shaped me,” Siale said, “East Lansing, I’m coming home.”
Siale is the second of two Father’s Day commitments to the Spartans’ 2026 class. Michigan State also flipped three-star safety Jordan Vann from Virginia.
With the addition of Vann and Siale, Michigan State’s class is up to 15 members, 11 having pledged since June 1. Michigan State currently ranks 25th in the country according to 247Sports, ranking ninth out of 18 Big Ten teams, a steady climb from being ranked in the 40s earlier this month, among the Big Ten’s worst rankings.Sunday’s adds are two strong ones. Currently a three-star prospect, Siale ranks 51st at his position according to the 247Sports Composite, returning to the defending 3A Washington state champions at O’Dea High School in Seattle โ familiar territory for head coach Jonathan Smith, who previously coached at Oregon State. O’Dea has produced seven NFLers including former Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson. Siale is the second edge rusher committed to the 2026 class, joining three-star Cory House (Whitehaven, Tennessee). In Vann, who ranks 87th on the 247Sports Composite, the Spartans draw from more familiar recruiting ground in Ohio. Vann plays at Middletown High School, a program that has produced 11 NFLers, most recently wide receiver Jalin Marshall in 2016.
Vann is Michigan State’s fifth commitment in the secondary, a group that includes Saturday pledge TJ Umenyiora (Blessed Trinity Catholic, Georgia) at cornerback. The secondary accounts for a third of the commitments so far in this year’s class, showing particular emphasis for a position group that Jonathan Smith’s staff has tried to overhaul through the transfer portal and recruiting trail
