Michigan State football just made a major splash on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from highly touted 2026 linebacker Braylon Hodge out of Colorado. The announcement comes shortly after Hodge wrapped up his official visit to East Lansing over the weekend.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker was a top target for several Power Five programs, but the Spartans managed to seal the deal thanks to a strong showing from head coach Jonathan Smith and his staff.
Hodge, known for his speed, field awareness, and hard-hitting presence on defense, brings a dynamic edge to Michigan State’s defensive future. As a junior, he racked up over 100 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks—earning All-State honors and cementing himself as one of the top defensive prospects in the region.
In a post-visit interview, Hodge praised the coaching staff, facilities, and the atmosphere in East Lansing:
> “It just felt like home. The coaches made it clear they believe in me, and I can see myself thriving here—on and off the field.”
This commitment gives the Spartans a major boost in their 2026 recruiting class, which is beginning to shape up as one of the strongest in recent years.
Michigan State fans, get ready. The future of Spartan defense just got a whole lot brighter. 💪
