Following the announcement of his departure as Michigan State University’s Athletic Director, Alan Haller issued a statement through his attorneys. In the statement, Haller expressed his pride in his record and the lasting impact of his work at the university.
He emphasized his consistent commitment to protecting students and upholding the best interests of the university throughout his career. Haller acknowledged that some of his decisions may not have aligned with individuals in positions of significant influence.
While deeply saddened to leave, Haller expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Spartan community for their unwavering support during his 32 years as a student-athlete, police officer, and administrator at Michigan State. He specifically thanked the student-athletes for allowing him the privilege of serving as their athletic director, highlighting the joy and responsibility he felt in helping them thrive.
Haller also expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support in navigating challenges and celebrating victories. He concluded by stating that serving the university and community had been an act of love and that he remains a proud Spartan. His final day in the role will be May 11, 2025.
