Will Roberto De Zerbi’s post-Crystal Palace appeal raise any red flags? Ian Hart’s

A Croydon pre-Christmas treat? Not exactly, another 1-1 draw against weaker opponents, making it four in a row, but evidence to how the Albion story continues, the Seagulls are still in ninth position at the time of going to press.

But where would those eight points have gotten us? Fourth! Despite the fact that Man City is in fifth place and has a game in hand.

And, despite the evident dissatisfaction, the Albion are still very much in European contention at the halfway point. Yes, the dropped points are a question of ifs and buts, and to quote former Albion manager Liam Brady at Canvey Island 25 years ago, “If your Grannie had wheels, she’d be a bus” (or words to that effect).

But is it Roberto De Zerbi’s post-match interview at Selhurst Park that has overshadowed Albion’s poor performance in South London?

Fans on social media alleging he was about to leave? A little overreaction!

RDZ, like the rest of us, was disappointed that we didn’t enter the Christmas break on the back of a ‘Derby’ triumph, but his mention of a ‘club policy’ has some supporters scared that this is the beginning of the end for the man who is, without a doubt, the greatest manager in the club’s history.

In my opinion, no, to reiterate like the rest of us, he was disappointed about not winning yet another game that was there for the taking. He’s not reinventing the wheel alluding to what is Albion’s current business model – finding young, talented, yet untried at EPL level, players, giving them the chance when they’d be perhaps warming the bench at the bigger top ten clubs.
