Mafah Confident Schieffelin is Destined for Success
When asked about his former Clemson teammate, running back Phil Mafah didn’t hesitate to offer praise for forward PJ Hall’s successor, Jack Schieffelin. As the Tigers prepare for a new era on the basketball court, Mafah made it clear—he has no doubt Schieffelin will thrive.
Schieffelin, known for his gritty defense, high basketball IQ, and work ethic, has steadily improved over his time with the program. Now stepping into a larger leadership role, the versatile forward is expected to anchor Clemson’s frontcourt and become a focal point for the team both on and off the court. Mafah, who shared countless hours in the weight room and on campus with Schieffelin, believes the 6-foot-7 junior has all the qualities needed to rise to the occasion.
“He’s always been one of the hardest workers I’ve seen,” Mafah said. “Jack’s mentality is different. He embraces challenges and never backs down. That’s what leaders do.”
Schieffelin has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career, contributing in rebounds, defense, and hustle plays that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. With Hall moving on, the spotlight is firmly on Schieffelin to step up—and those closest to the program believe he’s more than ready.
The Tigers are counting on Schieffelin to set the tone for a squad with plenty of new faces. His physicality, combined with a calm demeanor, could be just what the team needs to stay competitive in a loaded ACC.
As Clemson fans look ahead to the next chapter, they can take comfort knowing one of their most consistent and driven players is ready to lead. And if Phil Mafah’s confidence is any indication, Jack Schieffelin’s breakout moment may be just around
the corner.
