2027 Argyle (Tex.) Liberty Christian linebacker Cooper Witten, the son of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, added an offer from the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ole Miss joins Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and numerous others in offering the 6-1, 210-pound prospect.Witten was at SMU on Tuesday and the in-state Mustangs lead the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Witten’s already been to Tennessee, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. He heads to visit Georgia this weekend. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 19 overall prospect in the country, No. 1 linebacker and No. 4 prospect in Texas. On3 ranks him as the 17th-ranked overall prospect.It was crazy. I did not think it’d be that much,” Witten told On3. “It was good and bad. It’s cool all these coaches calling you, but at the same time, it’s a bunch and overwhelming.”
Witten plans to take his time with his process and doesn’t have any favorites. He’s keeping his options open and plans to take official visits next summer.In his 16 seasons playing for the Cowboys, Jason Witten became the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions (1,215) and yards (12,977) to go along with 72 touchdowns. He was a 11-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro, finishing his career with the second most receiving yards as a tight end in NFL history. He’s eligible to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2026.
