Legendary SEC QB Issues Clarification After His Hot Take On Arch Manning
Aaron Murray is clarifying his stance on Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning after his recent comments sparked debate. The former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback, known for his blunt takes, addressed the controversy surrounding his skepticism about Manning’s potential, emphasizing that his remarks were taken out of context.
During a segment on SiriusXM College Sports Radio, Murray questioned whether Manning had truly proven himself as a top quarterback, but he insists that his words were misrepresented.

“I think for those who listen to the entire kind of segment that we talked about quarterbacks… Sirius does a good job just like everyone else to take the 30 seconds that I talked about that specific thing and kind of blowing it up,” Murray said.
“But I’ll start by saying this, Arch Manning is a very talented quarterback and I said this during the interview, or not the interview but when I was on SiriusXM during the segment as well. I will never ever root against or badly for any quarterback because I know how difficult it is to play that position at that level and I guarantee it’s even harder for guys because they’re making money and even harder because his last name is Manning and expectations that go along with it.
You know, my big thing has always been with Arch during the entire process, from the moment he set foot there in Texas to now leading into his first season, is I need to see it first. And this goes for every quarterback.
Like, I’m not going to crown you a top quarterback or go crazy saying, ‘Oh, he’s going to be the number one pick in the NFL Draft come 2026.’ Like, what has he done? What has he truly done?”
Murray has been vocal about his doubts regarding Manning for some time. Earlier this year, he criticized the hype surrounding the Texas quarterback, questioning why he hadn’t been able to beat out Quinn Ewers for the starting job sooner.
“If you are so good… why in the hell are you not playing above a seventh-round quarterback?” Murray said in a previous interview.
Despite his skepticism, Murray made it clear that he respects Manning’s talent and isn’t rooting against him. Instead, he simply wants to see results before buying into the hype.
“My big thing has always been with Arch during the entire process from the moment he set foot there in Texas to now leading into his first season, I need to see it first,” Murray explained.
With Manning set to take over as Texas’ starter, he’ll have the chance to prove Murray and any other skeptics wrong.
