The Tennessee Vols added a key player to their 2026 recruiting class on Friday morning. And it’s a name that may ring a bell for some Vol fans from a couple of decades ago.
Four-star recruit Kedric Golston II committed to Josh Heupel and the Vols, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. For those wondering, Golston indeed is the son of the former Georgia standout of the same namesake. Kedric Golston was a defensive lineman for the Bulldogs from 2002-05. He was drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Redskins in the 2006 NFL Draft and went on to an 11-year career in the nation’s capital, totaling 244 combined tackles and 7 sacks in 142 career games.
Golston II is a four-star recruit according to On3 Sports’ industry rankings. He’s the #41 edge and #10 player in the state of Virginia. He held offers from Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers, among several others.
Golston II becomes the tenth player in Heupel’s 2026 recruiting class and the sixth player of 4 or more stars in the class.
