LeBron James, a proud supporter of Ohio State and an Ohio native, recently responded to a playful comment from Buckeyes coach Ryan Day. This all started after James jokingly tweeted about possibly playing college football. When Day appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the host brought up the tweet, asking if there was a chance for James to join the Ohio State football team.
Day, without hesitation, responded that even the NBA legend would need to work his way up like any other freshman.LeBron is a huge fan of Ohio State and has been a great supporter. With that being said, he’d have to start with the freshman in the back of the room and we’d have to work his way up. He doesn’t get any special treatment, Day said.
James, clearly respecting Day’s honest approach, took to social media to reply:I don’t mind it one bit Coach Day! Earned, not given! showing that he appreciated the fair treatment, even in this playful hypothetical situation.
Although LeBron has expressed his love for Ohio State multiple times, it seems any future gridiron dreams would have to start from the bottom if he were ever to make the transition from NBA star to college football player.
