Lane Kiffin Opens Up About 2025 Season Goals and Team Chemistry
Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin isn’t just preparing for another SEC season — he’s aiming to build a legacy. In a recent interview with local Mississippi media, Kiffin outlined his priorities for the 2025 season, emphasizing team chemistry, discipline, and accountability as key components of the Rebels’ success plan.
Coming off a 10-3 season capped by a New Year’s Six bowl win, expectations are high in Oxford. But Kiffin is focused on more than just the win-loss record. “The biggest challenge is keeping guys focused on the team and not the hype,” he said. “Chemistry isn’t built in game week. It starts in spring, it builds in the summer, and it’s tested in the fall.”
Kiffin acknowledged the transfer portal and NIL era have changed the dynamics of team building. With several high-profile transfers coming in — including a top-rated wide receiver from the Pac-12 and a defensive lineman from the Big Ten — blending returning players and newcomers is a priority. “We’ve got talent, but talent has to gel,” he added.
He also spoke highly of returning leaders like running back Quinshon Judkins and linebacker Suntarine Perkins, who have embraced leadership roles and helped set the tone during spring workouts. “They’ve matured. They’re setting the standard now, and that’s what you want from your veterans.”
Kiffin noted that the staff has also placed renewed emphasis on discipline, including off-the-field conduct and academic performance. “Being a Rebel means more than just showing up on Saturdays,” he said. “It’s about how you carry yourself every day.”
As the 2025 season approaches, Ole Miss fans can expect a focused, driven squad — one built not just on talent, but on chemistry and culture. Under Kiffin’s leadership, the Rebels are aiming for more than just bowl games — they’re chasing championships.
