Cleveland Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations, Koby Altman, has offered insight into the team’s main priority heading into the 2025 NBA offseason. Following a season marked by flashes of potential but also inconsistency, Altman made it clear that the front office is focused on building a more cohesive and balanced roster around its core stars, particularly Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley.
One of the most pressing needs Altman identified is adding depth and versatility on the wing. Injuries and lack of consistent production at the small forward position created challenges throughout the season. As a result, the Cavaliers are expected to aggressively pursue players who can defend multiple positions, shoot the three-ball reliably, and bring playoff experience to the locker room.
In addition to roster upgrades, Altman emphasized the importance of continuity and internal development. The Cavs believe that with a healthy core and improved chemistry, they can become legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference. Altman also hinted at potential adjustments in the coaching staff to better support player growth and tactical execution.
With Mitchell’s long-term future a key storyline, this offseason could be pivotal. Altman’s comments signal a sense of urgency — the Cavs are not looking to rebuild, but to retool with winning in
mind.
