Kentucky is eyeing the early top-ranked transfer Including Dedan Thomas and 2 others

The Kentucky Wildcats are actively pursuing top talent in the transfer portal to enhance their roster for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Among their primary targets is Dedan Thomas Jr., a standout guard formerly with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. Thomas, who entered the transfer portal on March 17 following UNLV’s coaching changes, has garnered significant attention from Kentucky and other prominent programs.

A Las Vegas native, Thomas made an immediate impact at UNLV. As a freshman, he averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 assists per game, starting all 34 games for the Runnin’ Rebels. In his sophomore year, he improved his performance, earning Third Team All-Mountain West honors by averaging 15.6 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game, with a 35.3% shooting rate from beyond the arc.

Kentucky’s interest in Thomas aligns with their strategy of recruiting experienced players to build a competitive team. The Wildcats have also expressed interest in other high-caliber transfers, including Treysen Eaglestaff, a 6-foot-6 guard from North Dakota who averaged 18.9 points per game, and Josh Dix from Iowa, known for his impressive shooting efficiency.

The transfer portal has become a pivotal avenue for teams to strengthen their rosters, and Kentucky’s proactive approach reflects their commitment to excellence. As the portal continues to evolve, the Wildcats’ ability to attract top-tier talent like Thomas could significantly impact their performance in the forthcoming season.
