Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is a summer target for Premier League giants Liverpool, according to reports. The 23-year-old shot-stopper has made the No 1 shirt his own at the Stadium of Light in recent seasons, with a series of impressive performances.

The North East keeper has been an ever-present for the Black Cats in the Championship this season and was a key man in last season’s play-off push. He is under contract at the Stadium of Light until 2028, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified him as a possible back-up to Brazilian keeper Alisson Becker for next season.
The Sun report that the Reds fear they could lose current No 2 Caoimhin Kelleher to Celtic in the summer, with Brendan Rodgers said to be a admirer of the 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international.
Interest in Patterson could peak this summer, especially if Sunderland fail to win promotion to the Premier League under Michael Beale. While the club would ideally like to keep their top young talent, selling one or two to finance more deals does fit in with the current transfer strategy.
