State Commitment Jakobe Green Recaps Mississippi State Official Visit: “It Felt Like Home All Over Again”
Four-star defensive back Jakobe Green, one of the crown jewels of Mississippi State’s 2025 recruiting class, recently wrapped up his official visit to Starkville—and by all accounts, it only reinforced his strong commitment to the Bulldogs.
Green, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound standout from Georgia, committed to Mississippi State earlier this year and has remained firm in his decision despite increased attention from other SEC programs. His official visit over the weekend gave him another up-close look at what life would be like as a Bulldog—and he left even more confident in his choice.
“It felt like home all over again,” Green said. “The coaches, the players, the energy—it’s real down here. Everything I saw just confirmed that this is where I’m meant to be.”
The visit included the usual perks of an official: a campus tour, time with academic advisors, and meetings with position coaches. But for Green, it was the chance to deepen bonds with the coaching staff and get a feel for the team culture that stood out the most.
“I spent a lot of time with Coach [Matt] Brock and Coach [Tony] Hughes. They really broke down how they see me fitting into their defensive scheme,” Green shared. “They want me to come in and compete right away at corner, but also maybe rotate at nickel depending on the matchup. I love that versatility.”
Green also had the opportunity to hang out with current players, including several fellow Georgia natives who made the move to Starkville in recent years. That connection, he said, helped solidify how seamless the transition could be.
“Talking to guys already on the team who came from where I’m from made a big difference,” Green said. “They told me the truth—what it’s like to grind, what the coaches expect, and how the city supports you. That’s the kind of honesty I respect.”
The Bulldogs’ revamped facilities, especially the weight room and players’ lounge, also left a strong impression.
“Man, the upgrades are crazy,” he laughed. “Everything is top-tier. You can tell Mississippi State is investing in winning and in their players.”
While Green has received continued interest from schools like Tennessee, Florida State, and Ole Miss, he made it clear that his commitment remains solid—barring any drastic changes.
“Other schools are still hitting me up, but I’m 100% with State right now,” he said. “I’m locked in with this class. We’ve got something special coming.”
Green is part of what’s shaping up to be a strong 2025 class for Mississippi State. His leadership on the recruiting trail has helped pull in other key pieces, and he says he’s not done trying to add more talent.
“I’m talking to a couple guys now, telling them, ‘Come be great with me,’” he added. “We’re trying to change the game at Mississippi State.”
With his official visit in the books and his commitment stronger than ever, Jakobe Green is ready for the next chapter—one that begins in maroon and white.
