Kirby Smart, Cam Newton head 33 picked for Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame.
Georgia football coach Kirby Smart and former NFL MVP and Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton will headline this year’s inductees into the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame.
Also part for the 2025 class will be NBA legend Walt Frazier of Atlanta’s old Howard High, former Falcons and Georgia Tech star Keith Brooking of East Coweta and 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame honoree Sterling Sharpe of Glennville.Smart first made his mark in Georgia as a player, but his greatest accomplishments have come as the coach of his alma mater.
Smart has accrued a 105-19 career record with the Bulldogs during a run that saw Georgia become a powerhouse program and win back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. The Bulldogs’ title season in 2021 marked the program’s first in 41 years, and their repeat in 2022 marked the sport’s first undefeated season in the playoff era. Those championships made Georgia the sport’s first back-to-back title winners since Alabama in 2011-12.
Smart’s Bulldogs are coming off a 2024 season in which they went 10-2 in the regular season, won the SEC championship game for the third time under Smart’s watch, and played in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs’ season ended with a 23-10 loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl as part of the CFP quarterfinals.
