In a move that has sent shockwaves through both college football and the NFL, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has reportedly rejected massive offers from the LSU Tigers and the Green Bay Packers, choosing instead to remain at the helm in Athens.
According to reports, the combined $15 million per year offer from LSU and the Packers would have made Smart one of the highest-paid coaches in football. Despite the financial allure, Smart emphasized his commitment to Georgia, stating, “Georgia is home. I have no plans beyond Georgia.”
Since taking over as head coach in 2016, Smart has led the Bulldogs to multiple SEC championships and back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022.
Smart’s decision comes on the heels of a challenging 2024 season, where Georgia finished with an 11–3 record and suffered a 23–10 loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal.
In response to the season’s outcome, Smart has intensified recruiting efforts, aiming to bolster the team’s roster and return to national championship contention.
Smart’s unwavering loyalty to Georgia underscores his dedication to the program’s legacy and future success.
