HUNGRY FOR GREATNESS: Titans LB James Williams “Starving” for More in Year 2, Now Wearing ‘Sr.’ With Pride
NASHVILLE, TN — Tennessee Titans linebacker James Williams Sr. isn’t just playing for tackles and stats this season — he’s playing for legacy.
As he enters Year 2 in the NFL, the rising defensive star has added something new to the back of his jersey: “Sr.” A subtle change, but one that carries massive weight for the former undrafted rookie turned breakout candidate.
“I’ve got a son now,” Williams said after Tuesday’s minicamp practice. “That ‘Sr.’ means everything. I’m not just chasing success — I’m chasing something bigger. I’m chasing legacy.”
And he’s “starving” for it.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker showed serious flashes in his rookie season, particularly on special teams and in situational coverage. Now, after a full offseason with the Titans staff, Williams looks faster, sharper, and more confident. Coaches are taking notice, and so are teammates.
“He’s got a chip on his shoulder, and he plays like it every snap,” said Titans head coach Brian Callahan. “You can tell he’s not satisfied. He wants more — and he’s putting in the work.”
Williams has been seen staying late after practices, running extra drills and fine-tuning his footwork and reading of opposing offenses. His motor? Unquestioned. His mindset? Relentless.
“I’m not trying to fit in,” Williams said. “I’m trying to break through. There’s a fire in me — and it’s burning hotter than ever.”
With linebacker depth a top priority for Tennessee’s 2025 campaign, James Williams Sr. is positioning himself not just as a contributor — but potentially, a core defensive leader.
Legacy isn’t given. It’s earned.
And Williams Sr. is ready to take it.
