Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel just added a major win to his bank account. After leading the Vols to the College Football Playoff, Heupel is set to receive a $200,000 bonus — and that’s just the beginning.
Under his current contract, Heupel’s postseason bonuses stack up like this:
CFP First-Round Appearance: $200,000
CFP Quarterfinals (New Year’s Six Bowl): $250,000
CFP Semifinals: $300,000
CFP National Championship Appearance: $400,000
CFP National Championship Win: $1,000,000
On top of that, Heupel can earn additional cash based on the team’s final rankings:
Top 5 Finish: $150,000
Top 10 Finish: $100,000
Top 25 Finish: $50,000
This is all in addition to his base salary of $275,000 and a whopping $8.725 million in supplemental pay, bringing his annual total to around $9 million.
Bottom line? Winning pays — and Heupel is cashing in. If the Vols continue this run, his paycheck could skyrocket even further.
