On Wednesday, the deadline passed without the Philadelphia Eagles taking action to reinstate defensive tackle Byron Young to their active roster. Consequently, Young, who has been on injured reserve since October 25 due to a hamstring injury, will not participate in the Eagles’ remaining game—Super Bowl LIX on February 9.
Young was designated for return on January 9, which allowed him to resume practicing and initiated a 21-day period for the Eagles to reinstate him to their roster. Despite completing nine full practices during this window, the Eagles opted not to alter his status, meaning Young will conclude his second NFL season on injured reserve.
The former Alabama standout has unfortunately been sidelined for a significant portion of this season, but his return to practice was a positive sign. However, with the deadline now passed, Young’s focus will likely shift to recovering fully and preparing for the next season.
