Liverpool owner John W Henry has been assured that his hopes of bringing Kylian Mbappe to Anfield are not as unrealistic as originally thought, with a former star describing how Mo Salah may assist snag the international superstar.
The PSG superstar is in the final five months of his contract at the Parc des Princes, and talk over his future is heating up as a result. Many see Mbappe as the finest player in the world right now, and his future move has already sparked major column inches and considerable conjecture.
To that end, sources in both his home France and Spain strongly indicate that a move to long-time admirers Real Madrid is the most likely conclusion. However, the player’s entourage has denied claims that he has already agreed to terms on a pre-contract deal to come to the Bernabeu.
Liverpool is also reportedly interested, as Mbappe has long admired the club and has flirted with a transfer to Anfield in the past. And although Jurgen Klopp’s departure certainly dampens their chances, and that’s not even taking into account the astronomical salary the player would want, any notion of a transfer to Anfield must be a pipe dream.
Furthermore, an extension to his contract with PSG cannot be ruled out. Mbappe has stated that he wants to make a choice after the current season is over, but he has not ruled out a new contract to keep him in Paris.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, has stated that his team intends to extend Mbappe’s contract.
PSG superstar is yet to decide on his future.
Al-Khelaifi appears to believe that his mutual admiration for Mbappe, as well as his patience, will be rewarded, telling RMC Sport: “For me, he is the finest player in the world right now.
“I have a positive connection with Kylian; he is a great player, personality, and man. He stated after the Trophee du Champions game that he had reached an arrangement with me. I don’t want to put it out there.
“He understands what it is. He is 25 years old, still young, yet the finest player in the world. He’ll win a lot of titles with both the club and the national squad. For the next ten years or so.
“I don’t.”
While many would consider those demands to be much beyond Liverpool’s grasp, especially given that their current top earner, Mo Salah, makes around half that amount, a former Reds player has revealed just how they can make the unthinkable become achievable.
John Henry explained how he may arrange Mbappe’s transfer to Liverpool.
Indeed, Reds owner Henry was said last month to have made it his personal goal to lure Mbappe to Anfield this summer, and he had devised methods to make that ambition a reality.
According to Don Hutchison, the strategy is simple: sell Salah to Saudi Arabia and give the full gain to Mbappe.
“How much money have we got?” Hutchison inquired on ESPN before learning that they may receive £150 million for Salah this summer.
Hutchison then said, “Mbappe.” Free transfer. Give him the £150 million. Wow, that’s a statement signature!
“Or, if you want to take the cheaper route, Jarrod Bowen. He is in incredible shape.
“If you have infinite funds, it’s Mbappe. “If you want to go the cheaper route, Jarrod Bowen.”
Meanwhile, fresh sources in Spain have revealed that Real Madrid think they are closer than ever to acquiring Mbappe and are’more motivated than ever’ to’strengthen’its squad with the addition of the gifted French attacker.
And now their efforts to recruit Mbappe are finally paying off, with the conclusion of their long-running quest in sight.
