Harrison Twins Believe Jaland Lowe Is Exactly What Kentucky Needs as Point Guard! “Bringing the Heat, Leading the Way—Lowe’s Ready to Shine in Lexington!”
As the Kentucky Wildcats gear up for the 2025-2026 basketball season, the addition of transfer Jaland Lowe from Pittsburgh has the potential to be a game-changer for the program. Lowe, a 6-3 point guard, has earned the endorsement of some of Kentucky’s biggest basketball alumni, including former players Aaron and Andrew Harrison.
The story of Lowe’s commitment to Kentucky began with a conversation between his father, Marland Lowe, and Aaron Harrison. Marland, a well-known figure in grassroots basketball, reached out to Aaron to ask about the Kentucky experience and if the program would be a good fit for his son. Aaron, who led Kentucky to back-to-back Final Fours in 2014, quickly gave a glowing recommendation, praising the atmosphere, fans, and overall experience that comes with being a Wildcat.
“I talked to Aaron Harrison — because he’s obviously from Houston,” Marland Lowe recalled. “He said, ‘It’s like nothing you’ve seen before, it’s phenomenal, to say the least. The fans are like none other — they love basketball, they know basketball. Just the experience, man. Be ready for it, because it’s real.’”
Aaron Harrison, who has known Jaland since he was a young child, echoed similar sentiments. “I’ve been knowing Jaland since he was literally a baby. His dad is really into basketball, so it’s going to be amazing for him. I’m happy he gets to experience it, because a lot of people would want to play at Kentucky and get that type of support,” said Harrison.
Andrew Harrison, while not as familiar with Jaland personally, also expressed his excitement about the point guard’s decision to join the Wildcats. “I know his dad, and I’ve been knowing him forever, just from our AAU program. I know Jaland can definitely play. He’s a smart kid, tough, and has been around the game his whole life,” said Andrew.
Jaland Lowe’s playmaking abilities are undeniable. Last season, Lowe earned third-team All-ACC honors after averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals at Pittsburgh. His style of play is exactly what Kentucky needs at point guard, and head coach Mark Pope agrees. “Jaland is an incredibly explosive, playmaking, veteran point guard,” Pope said. “He’s a great kid who has a tremendous work ethic and loves the game. Most importantly, he wants to win.”
With the Harrisons and Pope all backing Lowe’s arrival, Kentucky fans can look forward to seeing the young guard step into a pivotal role on a championship-contending team. As a highly skilled and determined player, Lowe is ready to take on the pressure and lead the Wildcats to future glory
