Hail State Welcomes Home a Legend: Fred Smoot Named Bulldogs’ Defensive Coordinator
In a move that has electrified Starkville, Mississippi State has officially named Fred Smoot, the legendary former Bulldogs cornerback and NFL standout, as the new defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs football program. Fred Smoot, who played for Mississippi State from 1997 to 2000, is widely regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks in school history.
