Portis will have big shoes to fill at Miami. His father played for the Hurricanes from 1999-2001, rushing for 2,523 yards and 20 touchdowns in his three seasons there. Clinton Portis was the starting running back on Miami’s BCS national title team in 2001. He then enjoyed a very successful NFL career, making an All-Pro team, getting two Pro Bowl nods, and turning in six separate seasons of at least 1,250 yards rushing.
Little has come out in recent years on the older Portis, other than the legal trouble he got into a little while back. His son will now try to carry on the family legacy in Coral Gables.

Notre Dame scheduling update could spell end of historic USC rivalry
The annual Notre Dame-USC rivalry game could be on life support. On Tuesday, the Fighting Irish announced a 12-year regular-season series with Clemson, which will run from the 2027-2038 seasons. That coincides with the last game between Notre Dame and USC, which is set for 2026. In February, USC athletic director Jennifer Cohen spoke with The Athletic about the rivalry dating back to 1926. Cohen noted that the Trojans are in the expanded Big Ten conference and arguably the nation’s best after winning the past two national titles. However, they might not have an appetite for an out-of-conference yearly game against the Fighting Irish. “We’re now playing in a conference where we fly back and forth across the country every other week,” Cohen reasoned. (Gee, maybe USC should have considered that before it torched the Pac-12.) “So we remain in conversations with Notre Dame about the series,” Cohen continued. “I think we’re clear to each other [that] we’re going to continue to evaluate what’s best, and it’s my job to evaluate what’s best for our student-athletes and our program.” Except for the 2020 season, which was altered by COVID-19, Notre Dame and USC have played every season since the end of World War II. It makes more sense for the Trojans to want to discontinue the rivalry. In the series’ 95-game history, the Irish lead, 52-38-5. They’ve also won six of the last seven meetings, including the past two by a combined score of 97-55. Notre Dame and Clemson don’t have nearly as rich a history. The programs have met eight times, with the first in 1977. They’ve played each other six times over the last 10 seasons, with the Irish going 2-4 during that span. While it would be disappointing for the Notre Dame-USC rivalry to be put on hold following the 100th anniversary of their first meeting, it makes sense why the Irish would gravitate toward the Tigers despite them being a tougher matchup. Clemson is an ACC power and made the CFP last season after winning its conference. Meanwhile, USC has never made the CFP and has more losing seasons (two) than 10-win seasons (one) since 2018. With the strength of schedule a significant factor in the College Football Playoff committee’s evaluation of the country’s top teams, Notre Dame should benefit more from playing Clemson, regardless of whether it wins or loses (barring a blowout). It’s a shame that the budding Notre Dame-Clemson series could come at the expense of perhaps college football’s best out-of-conference rivalry.

‘American Dad’ Is Returning for Season 20 But With Major Change
American Dad is coming back for its 20th season, and it is moving to a new network. The animated sitcom has aired on TBS since Season 12. However, it is now joining its fellow animation domination shows, along with The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy, and moving to Fox. American Dad! follows a conservative CIA agent and his eccentric family in suburban America, including an alien and a talking goldfish with the brain of a German athlete. The series is cocreated by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman. Here’s everything we know about Season 20, from a premiere date to the cast and more. Former college football head coach Nick Saban is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport. Over his 28 seasons as a head coach, Saban compiled a career record of 292-71-1 (80.4% career winning percentage), retiring as the sixth-winningest coach in college football history. Saban also holds the record for the most national championships in FBS history, with seven titles — six at Alabama and one at LSU. After the 2023 season, he retired from coaching and transitioned to an analyst role. Throughout his career, Saban coached four Heisman Trophy winners and will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December. Lane Kiffin, now the head coach at Ole Miss, served as Saban’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2014 to 2016. During that time, Alabama lost only three games in total. While the team’s success was undeniable, Kiffin still remembers the losses, as they have stuck with him. Kiffin explained in a one-on-one interview with Theo Von that Saban would bring the players down when they were winning, so they wouldn’t become too comfortable or start slacking. However, after a loss, when they were already down, Saban would lift the players up instead of bashing or criticizing them. As Kiffin put it to Von: “I do remember the three losses over the three years,” ” said Kiffin. “He, actually, after those, was calm. That’s when we didn’t get ripped. Cause he’s like, ‘They’re going to get ripped anyway, I don’t need to.’ I need to when they’re feeling good about themselves. [Then, I can] bring them down. I didn’t really understand that at first, now I look back, man, there’s a reason he’s the greatest.” Kiffin was only with Saban for three seasons, but that time was enough for him to observe Saban’s coaching tendencies, his dedication to the job, and what made him successful. Kiffin explained to Von how strict and specific Saban was in his approach to preparing and managing his players, coaches, and everything else. “He was so strict on everything in an apparent way,” Kiffin said. “With his team, players, the coaches, nothing changed. Even when we won a national championship, there was a 7:30 staff meeting the next morning… Now I look back, it’s why he is the way he is. It’s why he was so great. The standard never changed, no matter what.” Kiffin accepted the Florida Atlantic head coaching offer he received prior to the 2017 season and was relieved of his duties from Alabama three weeks before their national championship loss to Clemson. He coached the Owls for three seasons and then accepted the Ole Miss head coaching job prior to the 2020 season. Kiffin still coaches Ole Miss today.
