In a move that’s stirring emotions across Husker Nation, Nebraska has officially brought back one of its most beloved figures — former star quarterback Turner Gill — as an assistant coach.
Gill, who led the Cornhuskers to national prominence in the early 1980s under Tom Osborne, is now returning to Lincoln in a new role that aims to breathe life back into a storied program eager to return to its winning roots.
A fan favorite and respected football mind, Gill has decades of coaching experience, including head coaching stints at Buffalo, Kansas, and Liberty. His return isn’t just symbolic — it’s strategic. Nebraska is making it clear: they want to restore the culture, discipline, and championship DNA that made the program a powerhouse for generations.
Head Coach Matt Rhule called the hire “a no-brainer,” saying, “Turner knows what it means to wear the ‘N’ on his helmet. He’s walked the walk — and our young guys need that kind of presence in the locker room.”
With Gill now back in scarlet and cream, fans are hopeful this is more than just a sentimental reunion. It’s a signal — Nebraska is serious about bringing the glory days back to Memorial Stadium.
🏈 What do you think — is this the spark Nebraska needs? Can Gill’s leadership and legacy help turn things arounhn Lincoln?
