Georgia football will always have a lot of competition on the recruiting trail from other SEC programs. There likely are a couple teams that immediately come to mind as UGA’s biggest competitors, but one team most fans likely don’t think about at first has been the biggest thorn in Georgia’s side.
That team is Texas A&M, who so far have proven to be giving Georgia the hardest time on the recruiting trail
Georgia and A&M haven’t had too many direct recruiting battles so far this cycle, but the Aggies have been challenging UGA for the No. 1 recruiting ranking in the SEC the most. In fact, just a few days ago the Aggies flew past Georgia to take over the No. 1 spot in the conference.
Texas A&M however did not hold that title for long, as Georgia has officially given them a taste of their own medicine and have taken the No. 1 spot in the SEC rankings back from the Aggies.
Georgia now leads the SEC in the 2026 team recruiting rankings
Georgia earned a big commitment from four-star corner Chace Calicut on Friday. It was this commitment that sent Georgia past A&M in the Rivals team recruiting rankings, giving UGA the No. 1 spot in the SEC
Unfortunately for Georgia, they only have the No. 2 class in the country as they do still trail USC who has had the No. 1 class in the country for months now. Georgia however is slowly catching up to the Trojans, and a potential commitment on Saturday from the No. 1 defensive lineman in the class, James Johnson, would bring Georgia even closer to USC.
Regardless of how things shake up.
