A little over two weeks ago, the Washington Mystics announced that rookie point guard Georgia Amoore had suffered an ACL injury. On Friday, the franchise confirmed what most expected: she’ll miss the entire 2025 season.
Amoore, who was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, recently underwent successful surgery to repair a right ACL injury. The former Kentucky point guard originally suffered the injury just a couple of days into the Mystics’ preseason practices. The franchise did not note if it was a full tear of her ACL or just a partial one, but either way, Amoore’s professional debut will have to wait a bit longer.
Washington begins its season tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Atlanta Dream, which is led by fellow Kentucky WBB alum and former No. 1 overall pick, Rhyne Howard.named a consensus All-American while leading UK to its first NCAA Tournament win since 2021. The native of Australia went on to be the program’s first first-round WNBA Draft pick since Howard went No. 1 overall in 2022.
