Alabama has extended an offer to Ben’Jarvius Shumaker, a highly regarded four-star defensive lineman from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. Although Shumaker is just a sophomore, he is already considered one of the top defensive lineman prospects in his class. His impressive list of offers includes notable programs such as Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State, and now Alabama.
Shumaker expressed his excitement about receiving an offer from Alabama, stating, “It really means a lot because I used to always watch them on television and now they are offering me and wanting me to come play for them. I just thank God for the opportunity.”
Praising Alabama’s football program, Shumaker noted, “From the outside looking in, it looks like a great program. I know a lot of players in the NFL that came from Alabama, which means they are doing something good.”
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 280 pounds, Shumaker showcased his talent during his sophomore season at Choctaw County, even though he played only five full games. He recorded 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one touchdown, and three pass breakups. Shumaker’s ability to dominate with his strength and active hands while maneuvering around blocks has set him apart as a formidable player.
As Shumaker continues to develop his skills, the interest from top college programs underscores his potential to become a standout defensive lineman in the future.
