FSU Basketball Lands Commitment from Drexel Transfer Guard Kobe MaGee

Florida State University (FSU) has made a significant addition to its basketball roster, securing a commitment from Kobe MaGee, a transfer guard from Drexel University. The talented backcourt player announced his decision to join the Seminoles in 2025, marking a pivotal move for both MaGee’s career and FSU’s program as they aim to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.

MaGee, who spent the past two seasons at Drexel, has been a standout player for the Dragons, earning recognition for his scoring ability, defensive tenacity, and leadership on the court. Standing at 6-foot-3, MaGee is known for his versatility as both a scorer and a defender, which should translate well to the Seminoles’ system under head coach Leonard Hamilton.

During his time at Drexel, MaGee showcased his ability to make an impact in all facets of the game. In the 2024-2025 season, MaGee averaged 12.5 points per game, shooting 45% from the field and 36% from three-point range. His scoring ability was complemented by his strong defensive presence, where he averaged over 1 steal per game. MaGee’s combination of offense and defense made him a valuable asset for Drexel, and his performance didn’t go unnoticed by major programs across the country, including FSU.

The decision to transfer to FSU comes at a crucial time for MaGee, who is looking for a platform to showcase his talents on a larger stage. The Seminoles, a program with a rich basketball history and consistent success under Coach Hamilton, present the perfect opportunity for MaGee to further develop his skills while competing in the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

MaGee’s decision to join FSU was influenced by several factors, including the opportunity to play in a more high-profile conference and the chance to work with a coaching staff that has a proven track record of developing players. Hamilton and his staff are known for their ability to develop players, particularly guards, and MaGee will benefit from the emphasis on player development that has been a hallmark of the Seminoles’ program.

“I’m excited to be joining FSU,” MaGee said in an interview following his commitment. “The opportunity to play in the ACC and be part of a program with a rich tradition of success is a dream come true. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team and continuing to grow as a player under Coach Hamilton’s guidance.”

MaGee’s arrival adds depth to the Seminoles’ backcourt and provides much-needed experience and scoring ability. His perimeter shooting will be an asset for FSU, which has shown in recent seasons that a balanced attack—both inside and outside—can lead to success. MaGee’s ability to stretch the floor while also playing tough defense will complement the team’s style of play, which often emphasizes versatility and unselfishness.

The addition of MaGee also enhances FSU’s recruiting efforts, showing that the program can attract talented players from across the country. His commitment adds another piece to a roster that is poised to compete at a high level in the ACC and beyond.

With MaGee joining the Seminoles for the 2025-2026 season, FSU fans can look forward to watching a dynamic and capable guard who will bring both scoring and defensive intensity to the team. As he continues to develop under Coach Hamilton, MaGee has the potential to make a significant impact and help lead the Seminoles back to the NCAA Tournament.
