Four Questions for Nebraska Football Heading Into Spring Ball….

Four Big Questions for Nebraska Football Heading Into Spring Ball

Spring football in Lincoln is always full of anticipation, but this year, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are facing some of their biggest questions in recent memory. With Matt Rhule entering his second season, expectations are high, but so are the uncertainties. Here are four burning questions as Nebraska heads into spring practice.

1. Who Will Be Nebraska’s Starting Quarterback?

Quarterback battles are nothing new for the Huskers, but this one feels especially pivotal. Will Dylan Raiola, the highly-touted freshman, live up to the hype and take over the offense? Or will last year’s starter, Heinrich Haarberg, hold onto the job? There’s also a wildcard in transfer portal addition [insert name if applicable]. Whoever wins the job will need to command the offense with confidence, limit turnovers, and prove that Nebraska finally has its long-term answer under center.

2. Can the Offensive Line Finally Be a Strength?

For years, Nebraska’s offensive line has been a weak spot, struggling to protect the quarterback and open up running lanes. Rhule and his staff have focused heavily on development, but will that translate to improved play? The addition of [key transfer or returning player] could be a game-changer, but unless the Huskers dominate in the trenches, the offense will continue to sputter.

3. Will Tony White’s Defense Take the Next Step?

Nebraska’s 3-3-5 defense surprised many last season, finishing among the Big Ten’s best statistically. But can they maintain that momentum? With key departures on the defensive line and secondary, depth could be an issue. The Huskers need new leaders to emerge, particularly at linebacker and safety, to keep White’s system effective against tougher competition.

4. Is Year Two Under Matt Rhule a Breakout or Another Rebuild?

Nebraska fans have been patient through years of disappointment, but at some point, results have to come. Rhule’s track record suggests a Year 2 leap, but will that hold true in the rugged Big Ten? A strong spring could set the tone for a breakthrough season—or reveal that the Huskers are still a year away.

The pressure is on, the expectations are rising, and Nebraska football is at a crossroads. The answers to these questions will define the 2024 season.
