Former Ohio State Tight End Patrick Gurd Transfers to Cincinnati

Patrick Gurd has announced his decision to transfer to Cincinnati for his final year of college football. The former Ohio State tight end shared his commitment to the Bearcats on Monday night.

Gurd will join fellow former Buckeye, Joe Royer, in Cincinnati tight end room, marking the second player from Ohio State in the unit. Gurd becomes the fourth former Buckeye on the Bearcats roster, following running back Evan Pryor and safety Kye Stokes, who also transferred to Cincinnati last offseason.

After five seasons at Ohio State, Gurd primarily contributed on special teams but saw limited action on offense, playing as a tight end and blocking fullback. Over the past two seasons, the walk-on recorded two receptions for 15 yards and played 88 offensive snaps. At Cincinnati, Gurd could have the opportunity to play a larger role alongside Royer, who had a strong 2024 season with 50 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns.
