The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team has once again made NCAA history, advancing to the Super Regionals for the 19th time—the most appearances in college softball history. This milestone highlights Alabama’s sustained excellence, consistency, and competitiveness on the national stage.
The Tide secured their place in the 2025 NCAA Super Regionals after dominating the Tuscaloosa Regional, posting decisive wins over Jackson State and Virginia Tech. Their ability to rise to the occasion and thrive in high-pressure situations has long been a trademark of the program under head coach Patrick Murphy, who has guided Alabama to 23 seasons with 40 or more wins.
Next up for Alabama is a familiar postseason rival—the Oklahoma Sooners, the four-time defending national champions. The matchup will take place in Norman, Oklahoma, with a trip to the Women’s College World Series on the line. Alabama and Oklahoma have met 17 times since 2006, including several high-stakes battles in the WCWS and a notable Super Regional clash in 2015, which Alabama won.
Alabama enters the series as the No. 15 seed, while Oklahoma holds the No. 2 seed. Earlier this season, Alabama took two out of three games from the Sooners—demonstrating their ability to contain Oklahoma’s explosive offense. If Alabama hopes to advance, they’ll need another standout performance from their pitching staff, particularly Catelyn Riley and Jocelyn Briski, who have been instrumental in shutting down elite lineups all year.
The Super Regional will follow a best-of-three format:
- Game 1 – May 23
- Game 2 – May 24
- Game 3 (if necessary) – May 25
With their deep postseason experience, seasoned leadership, and recent success against Oklahoma, Alabama looks poised to make a serious run at returning to the Women’s College World Series.
