On Friday, Alabama football’s running back coach, Robert Gillespie, paid a visit to Derrek Cooper, a highly sought-after 2026 four-star running back from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Florida. Cooper, who is evaluating offers from top programs like Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia, has been in regular contact with the Crimson Tide.
In an interview with Touchdown Alabama, Cooper mentioned that he communicated with Alabama’s coaching staff daily in December, highlighting the team’s strong interest in him. “It’s been frequently consistent, like every day I talk to them coaches,” Cooper said, emphasizing the team’s eagerness to recruit him.
Cooper visited Alabama in October and confirmed that the Crimson Tide are guaranteed to receive an official visit from him in the future. This continuous engagement reflects Alabama’s dedication to securing Cooper as a key prospect for their program.
