Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that AC Milan were interested in Chelsea’s defender Benoit Badiashile during the January transfer window and addressed rumors suggesting they might pursue him again in the summer.
Badiashile, who was signed from Monaco by Chelsea in January 2023 for €38m, has faced challenges since joining, including injury issues, hindering his performance.
There are reports indicating that Chelsea might consider offloading Badiashile before the next season begins to generate funds and make room for potential new signings.
Milan had been linked with Badiashile before the January window, particularly when they were in need of defensive reinforcements. His name resurfaced as an option in February.
In his Daily Briefing column, Romano commented on the speculation surrounding Milan’s interest in Badiashile, stating, “We’re seeing reports again about AC Milan targeting Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile. While Milan were interested in January, they haven’t made a decision yet regarding the summer transfer window.”
He added, “It’s too early to determine Milan’s summer plans, aside from their decision to bring in a significant new striker. Chelsea also hasn’t made any decisions regarding Badiashile. We’ll have to wait until the summer to see what unfolds, as nothing concrete is happening at the moment.”
