Historic Showdown Set for August 30: Alabama vs. Florida State in Tallahassee
For the first time in history, the Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee. This highly anticipated matchup is scheduled for August 30, 2025, as confirmed by the ACC on Thursday. This game will mark the debut of the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium, adding an extra layer of excitement to the season opener.
The arrangement for this home-and-home series was initially made in 2019, but this will be the first instance where Alabama will play on Florida State’s home turf. Following this historic game, the Crimson Tide will host the Seminoles in Tuscaloosa the following season, ensuring a thrilling continuation of this fierce competition.
Historically, the two teams have only faced each other in Alabama three times, with matchups in Tuscaloosa in 1965 and 1974, and in Birmingham in 1967. Additionally, they’ve clashed at neutral venues twice: Florida State secured a 21-14 victory in Jacksonville in 2007, and the most recent encounter in 2017 saw the teams kicking off the season at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the first collegiate game to be played there.
Adding to the anticipation, the ACC will reveal each team’s conference opener on Friday afternoon via the ACC Network. Football enthusiasts can look forward to the full 2025 schedule announcement on Monday night, to be broadcast on ACC Network and ESPN2 at 9 p.m.
This season promises to be one for the books, with the historic first game in Tallahassee setting the tone for what is sure to be an unforgettable year in college football.
