East Lansing, MI — The Spartan Nation can breathe a sigh of relief. After swirling rumors and growing interest from other programs, 3-star tight end Eddie Whiting has officially reaffirmed his commitment to Michigan State University following an impactful and memorable official visit this past weekend.
Whiting, a 6’4″, 230-pound athletic standout from Illinois, had caught the eyes of several Power 5 programs with his strong spring performance, sparking speculation that his recruitment might still be in play. But after spending 48 hours immersed in the MSU culture, touring facilities, bonding with coaches, and connecting with future teammates, Whiting made one thing clear:
> “I’m a Spartan. 100%. No more questions,” Whiting posted to X (formerly Twitter), followed by a green heart emoji and a Spartan helmet.
The weekend visit included a detailed walkthrough of Spartan Stadium, film sessions with offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren, and a one-on-one sit-down with head coach Jonathan Smith — all of which seemed to seal the deal for the dynamic tight end.
Coach Smith’s system, known for maximizing tight end usage in both the pass and run game, appears to be a perfect fit for Whiting’s hybrid skill set. Sources say Whiting was particularly impressed with the vision laid out for his development and role in MSU’s evolving offense.
> “The staff believes in me, and I believe in what they’re building,” Whiting told 247Sports. “I see myself growing here on and off the field.”
With Whiting now firmly locked in, the Spartans’ 2025 recruiting class gains serious momentum. He’s expected to be a key part of the team’s future offensive arsenal and brings leadership potential to the locker room.
Spartan fans — you’ve got your guy. Whiting is all in.
