Early Look: Predicting the Steelers’ Offensive Starters for Week 1
As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare to enter the 2025 season, the offense is under the microscope once again. With Organized Team Activities (OTAs) just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to project the Week 1 offensive starters based on offseason moves, depth chart trends, and returning talent.
At quarterback, all signs point to Russell Wilson taking the reins in Week 1. The veteran was brought in to stabilize the position, and his experience and leadership give him a clear edge heading into the offseason. Justin Fields may push for reps, but Wilson is likely the starter barring injury or a surprising camp performance.
In the backfield, Najee Harris remains the lead back, with Jaylen Warren providing a strong complementary role. Harris has been a workhorse and remains integral to the Steelers’ offensive identity.
At wide receiver, George Pickens is locked in as WR1, poised for a breakout year with more consistent quarterback play. Rookie Roman Wilson has a shot to earn a starting slot role, while veteran Van Jefferson or Calvin Austin III could round out the trio depending on how camp unfolds.
Tight end will likely be manned by Pat Freiermuth, who should see a bigger role in 2025 if he stays healthy. His chemistry with Wilson will be something to watch during OTAs.
Up front, the offensive line will feature first-round pick Troy Fautanu at left tackle, Isaac Seumalo and James Daniels at guard, and Broderick Jones likely shifting to right tackle. Center could be a battle between Nate Herbig and a potential free agent or rookie addition.
While OTAs won’t finalize anything, they’ll offer the first glimpse into how this revamped offense might gel ahead of a cri
tical season.
