Duke’s transfer portal players: Where Sion James, Maliq Brown, others played before joining Blue Devils

Duke’s transfer portal players have brought significant talent and experience to the team. Here’s where some of the key players came from ¹ ²:

– *Sion James*: Previously played college basketball at Tulane, where he spent four seasons. The 6’5″ guard averaged 14.0 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in his final season.

– *Maliq Brown*: Transferred from Syracuse, where he spent two seasons and started 25 games. Brown averaged 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game as a sophomore.

– *Mason Gillis*: Joined Duke from Purdue, where he played a crucial role in the Boilermakers’ Final Four appearance in 2023. The 6’6″ wing has five seasons of college experience and is known for his shooting ability, including 46.8% from distance.

– *Cameron Sheffield*: Transferred from Rice, although his impact is still to be determined.

 

These transfers have complemented Duke’s star freshmen, including Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach, and have been integral to the team’s success this season ³.
