Duke’s Kon Knueppel Reacts to Historic Tyrese Proctor News

In the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Duke University’s guard Tyrese Proctor achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first Blue Devil since 2010 to hit five three-pointers in consecutive tournament games. This feat not only underscored Proctor’s exceptional shooting prowess but also drew praise from his teammates, including freshman guard Kon Knueppel.

Following Duke’s 89-66 victory over Baylor, which propelled them into the Sweet 16, Knueppel reflected on Proctor’s performance, stating, “What did he miss, one shot? When he’s filling up like that, he’s super easy to play with and we’re going to win.” Proctor’s impressive stat line included a career-high 25 points, one rebound, and two assists, with an outstanding shooting percentage of 90% from the field and 87.5% from three-point range.

This sentiment was echoed by Duke’s official social media channels, which highlighted Proctor’s achievement with a succinct four-word message, emphasizing the significance of his performance. Head coach Jon Scheyer also expressed his admiration for Proctor’s consistency and impact on the team’s success.

The Blue Devils’ journey to the Sweet 16 has been characterized by resilience and collective effort. Despite the absence of star freshman Cooper Flagg due to an ankle injury, Duke secured the ACC tournament title with contributions from players like Knueppel, who was named tournament MVP after averaging 21 points per game. The team’s depth and unity have been pivotal in overcoming challenges and advancing in the tournament.

Looking ahead, Duke is set to face either Arizona or Oregon in the upcoming Sweet 16 matchup. As the tournament progresses, the Blue Devils’ cohesion and individual performances, particularly those of Proctor and Knueppel, position them as strong contenders for the national championship.
