Cooper Flagg, a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year award, has taken college basketball by storm during his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils.
Flagg has led the ACC program to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, most recently helping Duke blow out Alabama to win the East Region.
As Duke prepares for the Final Four, where it will face the Houston Cougars, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest, the Blue Devils’ official social media account posted a major honor that Flagg had received.
Flagg was named the 2025 national player and freshman of the year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday.

Cooper Flagg, a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year award, has taken college basketball by storm during his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils.

Flagg was named the 2025 national player and freshman of the year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday.
During his freshman season at Duke, Flagg has led the Blue Devils in average points, rebounds, assists and steals. He’s averaging 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
He is a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year with Johni Broome, Braden Smith and Walter Clayton Jr.
