Duke loses fan favorite big man in surprise transfer portal decision

Duke will have one less tall guy in its practices next season.

The Blue Devils learned over the weekend that a four-year man who is 7-feet tall is putting his name into the transfer portal.

That’s Turkish center Stanley Borden, who has been a fan favorite walk-on at Duke.

Borden earned notoriety from his original Countdown to Craziness appearance at Duke when he crushed the song “Careless Whisper” on a saxophone.Borden saw action in five games with Duke, all in the form of mop-up duty. His main role was to work hard against Duke’s higher-touted players in practice.

Sadly, Borden never got a point on the board for Duke.

His final stats in total: 3 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers and 1 foul. He missed the lone shot he ever took.

Borden came to campus under Mike Krzyzewski and leaves after a few years under Jon Scheyer.

The good news for Duke here: Borden is their only player to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason.

And now Duke fans continue to wait to see what Cooper Flagg is going to do
