Terry Rozier’s tenure with the Miami Heat has faced significant challenges, casting doubt on his future with the team.
After being acquired from the Charlotte Hornets in January 2024, expectations were high for Rozier to bolster the Heat’s backcourt. However, his performance during the 2024–25 season fell short. He averaged 10.6 points per game—his lowest since 2018—along with 2.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds, while shooting 39.1% from the field and 29.5% from three-point range . These numbers marked a significant decline from his previous seasons.
Rozier himself acknowledged the mismatch between his playing style and the Heat’s system, stating, “I think it’s just my style of play hasn’t been the best fit for what we want to do” . This admission, coupled with his diminished role—playing limited minutes and being sidelined in several games—highlighted the struggles he faced integrating into the team’s dynamics.
Compounding the on-court issues, Rozier was reportedly under investigation by federal authorities in connection with a sports betting scandal related to a 2023 game . While details remain sparse, such off-court matters can influence a player’s standing within an organization.
